Mini yoginis: Yoga for babies, kids, and families

Yoga for kids in Edmonton
As the weather starts to turn cooler many Edmontonians start to think about indoor activities to sustain us throughout the long, chilly winter. Yoga is a great activity to practice year-round and our city has a wealth of local studios offering family-friendly classes.

Post Natal

Many local yoga studios offer post natal, or "mommy and me" yoga classes. These are usually geared towards women with very young infants and offer a gentle introduction into yoga practice for both mom and baby. Local studios offering post natal classes include:

Family and Kids

You're never too young for yoga! Many local studios offer classes for children as young as two years old.

Family Yoga Center lives up to its name, offering Yoga for Kids (age 7-14) and Yoga for Teens.

Lotus Soul offers a wealth of family-friendly options. Classes include Family Yoga (for children age 6-12 with family members) and Little Lotus (for children age 2-5 with a parent).

At Prana Yoga Studio kids from age 3 to 11 can participate in YogaKids. They also offer other kids' activities focussed on dance, music, and movement.

True Yoga has a YogaKids class for little ones aged 4 through 9. And if you'd like to practice in peace? They also offer the option of booking a babysitting service for any of their morning classes!

Have we missed your favourite family-friendly yoga studio in this roundup? Let us know in the comments...

My children love the kids yoga instructor at Wellness Within on the west end. They offer great unparented yoga classes for 2-4 year olds and 5-7 year olds. They are currently offering half off daytime classes right now until the end of December and you can drop in or register.
