Kids' Fish Fascination | Where To Find Aquariums in Edmonton

There’s something about a fish tank that fascinates a young boy or girl’s mind. From saltwater sea creatures to the everyday goldfish, my son’s favourite word to say is - ‘ish!
It all started one cold evening at the Ronald McDonald House Storybook Ball event in March 2012 at the Delta South Edmonton Hotel. My wife and I had been to a wedding there in November 2010 so we knew the big bright fish tank was fun to look at.
What we didn’t know was how much fun it was for a 1-year-old to look at!
Anytime he got a little restless during the event, out we went to the fish tank. There, we were joined by half-a-dozen other little tykes and toddlers oohing and awing about the glowing tropical fish darting in and out of the rocks and coral.
It sparked my wife and I to get a fish tank for ourselves - much smaller of course. A 5-gallon. It’s been an up-and-down adventure through the summer though. We’ve lost a couple fish along the way as little Mason heads over to a now empty fish tank and inquisitively asks, “‘ish?”
We’re letting it run and cleaning it out in hopes of getting a couple more back in this winter.
In the meantime, we enjoy visiting restaurants, malls and places of business that house fishtanks.
Some of our favourite places besides the Delta South Edmonton Hotel have included:

- West Edmonton Mall’s aquarium behind the Tim Horton’s
- Sweet Mango restaurant in the Mill Creek area
- Several Smitty’s restaurants in Edmonton
- Telus World of Science
Do any of you have similar places you and the little ones like to visit or eat at that house fish? Do any of you have fish tanks at home?
