National Zookeeper Week Summer Celebration
What: A party dedicated to the hard working zoo keepers at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
Why: Go on a scavenger hunt, pretend to be a prairie dog, get up close with animals and play games.

Whyte Avenue Art Walk
What: An outdoor studio and gallery featuring over 360 working artists.
Why: A family-friendly way to experience art and build art appreciation. Make sure to stop for ice cream.

Handmade Mafia
What: A collective of local artists and crafters gather for a monthly market featuring handmade goods.
Why: Toss aside any preconceived notions of handmade goods - this mafia takes it to the next step.
Where: Orange Hall - Just behind the Old Strathcona Farmers Market

Calling All Car Lovers
Show & Shine
What: A refurbished and custom car show plus other family activities in support of the Edmonton Humane Society.
Why: Enjoy live music, jump in a bouncer, make your own stuffed animal, and see a rope-skipping demo.

Float Fest
Sourdough Raft Race 2012
What: Edmonton’s well-known river raft race is back.
Why: Go early for a pancake breakfast (8:30), play in the kids’ mini carnival, make a mini raft then watch the race from your favourite viewing point.
Where: North Saskatchewan River from Terwillegar Park to Rafter's Landing
When: Sunday July 15, 2012. 8:30 am – 5 pm. Race begins at noon.
Ready, Set, Go!
Soap Box Derby
What: Kick off race week by cheering on kids 6 – 16 race their home built soap box car.
Why: It’s fun predicting who will win and how their creations will handle. Where: Victoria Park Road
When: Sunday, July 15, 2012. Races run 10am to 2pm.
Create Together
All Day Sunday
What: A family-friendly afternoon of hands-on art exploration and appreciation. This month’s feature exhibition is The Automatiste Revolution.
Why: Painting, dancing, storytelling and scavenger hunts, all indoor, could be an inspiring reprieve from the heat.
