Edmonton Latin Festival
What: The Edmonton Hispanic Cultural Society hosts live Latin music, dancing, and food.
Why: This free event is a great way to introduce culture music dance and song to your little ones.

When: Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19, 2012. 12 - 11pm
Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival
What: Watch paddlers, a drummer and steerperson paddle their way across Telford Lake.
Why: Team chants, drums, beer gardens and stage entertainment.
Where: Telford Lake in Leduc (map) (moved from North Saskatchewan River due to water conditions)
When: Friday, August 17 – Sunday, August 19
Edmonton Fringe for Kids
What: The Fringe Festival kids zone with performances and activities for kids under 12.
Why: Check out the new Tots Tent with activities for kids under 5. Full schedule.
Where: 104 Street between 85th and 86th Avenues (map)
When: August 17 – 26. Weekdays 9:30am – 5pm. Weekends 11am – 6pm.

Reel Family Cinema
What: Afternoon showing of classic films we all adore.
Why: Showing Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory this Saturday. Need I say more? Except that children under 12 are free.

Momstown 5th Birthday
What: A huge free birthday bash celebrating Momstown.
Why: There will be bouncy castles, face painting, mini photoshoots, prizes, music, craft, snack, story time and Clifford the Big Red Dog. The first 100 attendees will receive a gift bag by Todays Parent.

Art Adventures in Abstraction

What: A family-friendly day at the gallery featuring hands-on workshops, exhibition tours and activities that make the AGA come to life.

IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup
What: Eight counties bat-tle it out for baseball gold.
Why: If you’re missing Edmonton baseball, now’s your chance to watch some great ball and cheer on our Canadians.

What: A three-day automobile focused party.
Why: Go for the pancake breakfast, parade, show and shine and the drive-in movie showing Cars 2.

Kids Carnival & Corn Roast
What: This Grain Elevator fundraising event features balloon animals, pony rides, face paining, a petting zoo, games and crafts.
Why: Go for the corn. Yum.

Strathcona County Library Annual Book Sale
What: Pick up some great deals on gently-used books, CDs and DVDs. Hardcovers $1, Paperbacks and children’s material $0.50.
Why: You get books for your own library while supporting the purchase of new materials for the library.
