Happy Birthday | City and Baby Turns Two

Where does the time go?
It has been 2 years.
2 years since I wrote my first uneventful post on City and Baby.
2 trips around the sun.
2 awesome contributors on board.
221 posts later. And I am still loving it!
I started CityandBaby.com on September 19, 2010 a couple months after having my second daughter. Propelled by a need to share my knowledge, connect with other parents and celebrate all that Edmonton offers young families. I started writing. (Thanks to my dearest friend Kendall from City and Dale for also encouraging me and sharing the journey with me.)
A few years prior, I struggled with the transition from being an urban-loving, heel-wearing, career-minded woman with no kids, to feeling like a stuck-at-home mom when my first daughter was born.
I felt trapped.
What helped me was to get out of the house and connect with other moms and a few stay-at-home dads. I discovered a day-light-side of Edmonton that I didn’t know existed - classes, attractions, events, shopping, spaces, and lots of coffee shops. (Another latte please!)
And the world felt fun again. Indeed, parenthood isn't all about eat, sleep, poop. Whew!
I hope through City and Baby that I inspire you to get out of the house, explore our great city and meet other parents. Know that you are not alone in this transition. Life is not over when you have kids. There are still things to do, places to see and people to meet.
A new life is just beginning. Theirs. And ours.
Heartfelt Thank You
I am so very grateful for you. For reading. For your comments. For sharing your suggestions or local finds. For telling your friends about City and Baby. For going out to the events we share and supporting our sponsors and local businesses. Thank you!
Thank you also to Karen Parker and Jason Buzzell, City and Baby contributors, for your posts and sharing what you love about Edmonton. It is a pleasure doing this with you.
Looking forward to another great year with all of you!
See you out and about.
One more thing....
I’m working on a Big Birthday Giveaway contest to be launched in the next couple of days. I already have generous prizes from CHILDish, KulaKlips, Café O’Play, City of Edmonton, Metro Cinema and Scarecrow Festival. Hoping more local businesses and attractions will come on board to make this the ultimate Edmonton prize package. Let the celebrations continue.
