Tons of celebrations happening this weekend! The Library’s birthday, the Ice Cross Downhill World Championship, end of winter party and pi day. The weather is also supposed to be beautiful so there’s no reason not to join in the parties.

See you out and about

EPL Day: EPL is turning 102 and wants to celebrate with you! Visit your local branch for EPL's birthday on Friday, March 13. Cake and refreshments will be served while supplies last, and keep an eye on the High Level Bridge that night as it sports EPL colours!

Ultimate Pi Day: This year is dubbed the "Ultimate Pi Day," as the first 10 digits of Pi (3.141592653) will be represented, in day/time format, on March 14, 2015 (3/14/15 at 9:26:53). Telus World of Science is celebrating with pie catapults, nitrogen ice cream, circular science demonstrations and more.

Red Bull Crashed Ice: Riders hurtle down the steep track from Jasper Avenue, around the Shaw Conference Centre and down into the Edmonton river valley. The course is dotted with sharp turns, jumps and rollers and the racers go side-by-side in groups of four. Frst to the bottom wins. The Ice Cross Downhill World Championship happens on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30pm.

Tip: Take transit because parking is going to be limited. Also, this may be a better date night idea vs. young family outing as it’s expected to be busy and standing room only.

Farewell To Winter Party: Stop by one of the participating winter patios on March 13, 14 and 15 for a warm drink (many cafe and restaurant options) or a cool drink in the sunshine. Cheers to longer warmer days!

Build and Grow Clinic: Lowe’s runs monthly free workshops for kids. This month is a hand-made monster truck. Happening March 14 at 1am. Register in advance to secure your child’s space.
