Family Day Weekend Events in Edmonton | 2014

Image from Silver Skate Festival Edmonton

Family Day! It's one of our favourite days of the year. A full day to commit to playing with our family. City and Baby is supporting Family Day Unplugged again this year. We encourage you to turn off the screens and connect with family, friends and your community. Aren't the best memories made when we play together?!

Why Unplug?

  • 73% of kids would rather play with their parents than watch TV or use the Internet. (Ikea: Play Report, 2010)
  • Teens that have more than three family dinners per week are more likely to get better grades. (Casa, 2009)
  • By graduation, the average teen will have spent more time watching screens than being in the classroom, playing sports and talking to their parents. (Screensmart.ca)
  • Residents in connected neighbourhoods have a greater quality of life. (Shields, 2008)

There are more events and activities happening this weekend than I can even start to capture. Here are over 20 for you to consider.

What are you planning on doing for Family Day? Any traditions developing in your family? Please share in the comments below.
