Block Party
What: Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Alberta is hosting a block party to thank and celebrate the community for it’s support. We went last year and had so much fun playing games, listening to live music, touring the house and checking out the fire truck. Bring a donation from their wishlist and show your kids how they can help other families.

"It Takes a Village" Family Picnic
What: A community picnic with lunch from the Italian Centre Shop, activities from J’Adore Dance and SportBall Edmonton, an art project from 4Cats Art Studio and more.  Brought to you by Edmonton’s Child Magazine and Box Social Event Planning.

Lads on the River Weekend

What To Do With Kids This Weekend In Edmonton | November 14 - 16, 2014

With the snow and the Christmas lights up downtown it’s definitely feeling more like Christmas. This weekend marks the start of all the holiday events – arrival of Santa, light-ups, craft shows. 

 

Christmas on the Square Holiday Lightup
What:
Live music, carolers, balloon artists and at 6:30pm Santa waves the magic wand to light up the giant spruce tree. A fantastic fireworks display follows. Bring a donation to the Edmonton Food Bank to help fellow families.

What To Do With Kids in Edmonton This Weekend | Nov 1 - 2, 2014

It’s a relatively quiet weekend for scheduled events, but if you need to get out of the house check out here are a few ideas:

Indoor Farmers Markets:

- Mother’s Market, 10251 109 Street. Fri, Sat & Sun.

- City Market Downtown, indoor at City Hall for the winter. Sat.

Get geared up for ski season:

- MEC Snowfest Edmonton – Gear Swap ** SUNDAY

- Snow Valley Equipment Swap & Sale ** please note that this event was two weeks ago. I had the wrong information. Very Sorry!

Catch a movie:

- Cineplex Family Favourites – Rango. $2.50 admission.

- Island of Lemurs: Madagascar, IMAX, Telus World of Science

Play Outside
This may be our last weekend without snow for 2014, so we will be riding bikes and playing in the park. Hopefully it will burn off all those yummy Halloween treats.

Reminder!
Daylight savings time begins on Sunday, November 2 and that means moving your clocks back one hour. Pre-kids it also meant an extra hour of glorious sleep. Now it means another early morning wakeup and a hot cup of coffee.

Reel Family Cinema | Saturday Afternoons June To September

Metro Cinema is showing family favourites every Saturday from June to September.  Perfect if you need a break from the sunshine or a rainy day activity. Plus it’s an affordable outing - kids under 12 are FREE.

What:  Metro Cinema is showing Charlottes Web this weekend as part of their monthly family series. This is a lovely tale about growing up and learning one of life’s biggest lessons. Common Sense Media recommends this movie for 5+ year olds.

Mom Pop & Tots Fair
What:
A favourite family oriented tradeshow. Great vendors plus plenty of things to do with the kids. Thomas the Tank Engine, Dora, magic, bouncy tent, chalk drawing dancing and the petting zoo are only a few highlights that the kids will love.

Make It! The Handmade Revolution
What:

Law Day
What:
Learn more about law, courts and Chart of Rights during Law Day. Go see the Children’s Mock Trial “Sleeping Beauty v. Spectacular Spinning 
Wheel Co., et. al.” at 11:15 a.m. or 2:30 p.m.. Kids will also like seeing the EPS canine unit, bomb disposal and patrol units on the west side lawn of the court house. Free event.
